Vibration: See it all on one screen

Datastick Spectrum software is part of the Datastick VSA-1212 Vibration Spectrum Analyzer system. Datastick Spectrum runs on the Palm Powered handheld and makes it easy to collect and analyze vibration waveforms and spectra for condition monitoring, predictive maintenance and routine troubleshooting. Reloadable configurations let you change input and display parameters instantly and perform repeatable route inspections easily.

  1. The display auto-scales to the highest peak. Manual scaling is also available.
  2. Yellow, orange, and red level alarms can be set to any desired level.
  3. View the full spectrum or zoom in up to 64x for a close look.
  4. Fast access to on-screen tools for zooming and four cursor-position readout options.
  5. Quickly move among Acceleration, Velocity, and Displacement modes.
  6. Fast access to key setup and file management parameters.
  7. Automatic peak finder can show up to the 15 highest peaks.
  8. File status is clearly visible. (You can choose between discretionary saves or automatic saves.)

The versatile Add Note feature allows you to attach quick memos of on-site observations to your recorded data for export to a PC. Datastick Spectrum is included with the VSA-1212 Vibration Spectrum Analyzer module and also includes and smoothly integrates with Datastick Reporting System software for analyzing, trending, and reporting waveform and spectral data on a Windows® desktop PC or laptop computer.

Datastick Spectrum Features and Specifications
  • Display modes:
    • Frequency domain in Hz or CPM
    • Time domain in milliseconds or seconds
    • Acceleration, Velocity, and Displacement
    • Peak, Peak-Peak, or RMS measurements
    • English or metric units
  • Frequency range: 50 / 100 / 200 / 400 / 500 / 800 / 1K / 2K / 4K / 5K / 10K Hz (or equivalent CPM) selectable.
  • FFT resolution: 400 / 800 / 1600 lines, selectable.
  • FFT windowing: User selectable: Rectangular (Uniform), Hanning, Hamming, Flattop, Blackman, Bartlett.
  • Low-frequency displaycutoff: User selectable: No cutoff, 1, 2, 5, or 10 Hz (0, 60, 120, 300, 600 CPM).
  • Display conversion: Linear with adjustable slope and intercept.
  • Auto range: Yes, including optional auto-range on zoom; or manual range settings. It is also possible to auto-range any individual view on the display.
  • Cursor-position display tools:
    • Zoom tool: zoom in up to 64x and zoom out to full spectrum. Zoomed-in views can be panned left and right.
    • Inspector tool: select any data point and display its numerical value
    • Difference tool: select any two data points and numerically display the difference in value between the two.
    • Snap-to-Peak tool: cursor snaps to nearest peak.
    • Peak Difference tool: select any two peaks and numerically display the difference in value between the two.
    • Display options: Individually selectable: Display drawn in histogram or continuous trace, Adjustable display color, Optional X and Y numerical labels.
  • Add Note feature: Add text notes of on-site observations, test conditions, etc., to a signal capture for output to PC.
  • Level Alerts / Judgment Criteria: Flexible dialog box allows you to specify your own thresholds for machine condition levels.
  • Route-inspection capability: Reloadable configuration feature allows every inspection point to be named as an individual configuration. Datastick Reporting System PC software sorts by configuration by default to allow histories to be built for trending.
  • Supported handhelds: Palm Tungsten T, T2, T3, C, Palm m-500 series, Garmin iQue 3200, Garmin iQue 3600.
  • Included: Datastick Spectrum handheld software, Datastick Manager file handheld management utility, Datastick Reporting System PC software for analysis, trending, reporting, and archiving. Integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Office.

To zoom in, simply highlight the area of interest and lift the handheld computer's stylus. (Automatic peak detection has labeled four peaks in this view.) Zoomed-in view of the area highlighted at left. The Inpector cursor tool (the black vertical line) shows the value of any data point touched by the stylus.

Add Note Dialog Open Config
Numbers don’t always tell the whole story. Analysis is easier and more accurate when you have all the facts, and Datastick makes it easy with the versatile Add Note dialog box. Simply make a note and it is attached to your data for export to your PC. Repeatable route inspections are vital for accurate trending. Datastick’s reloadable configuration feature helps you to take the same measurement the same way each time. Datastick Reporting System software on the PC sorts by config to build histories.

The Configuration menu logically groups functions for fast, intuitive use. Spend less time on training and more time getting the job done. The Setup dialog puts all commonly used parameters in one place. Setup takes seconds and every setup can be saved and reused at a later time.
